About hannah amundson van
BACKGROUND
Hannah is a quietly meticulous creative who has loved making one-of-a-kind clothing since she was tall enough to reach her grandmother’s sewing table while growing up in Kansas City. Her childhood closet is full of thrifted finds that she would upcycle into wearable art.
She earned a BFA in fashion from SCAD, and graduated with honors in 2014. Her thesis collection of sculpture-like gowns won Neiman Marcus’s Art of Innovation undergraduate design award, and was featured in the book “Emerging Fashion Designers 5” by Schiffer Publishing.
INDUSTRY experience
She moved to Los Angeles where she spent her early years working in product development at Monique Lhuillier’s acclaimed atelier, where she honed her skills in fit, construction, couture techniques, and all the engineering secrets behind the best luxury bridal designs.
In early 2018, she designed a collection for Floravere, a start-up bridal industry disruptor. By February 2020, Floravere had opened two flagship stores with showrooms in nine cities, and Hannah had produced four well-received collections as the Head of Design & Development. The brand decided to close for good during the pandemic, opening an opportunity for Hannah to consider a new path to continue servicing the bridal market, on a scale that felt more personal.
starting the studio
With support from her former network, she has since opened her custom-made bridal atelier, where she designs, drapes, and fits her client’s vision to luxury bridal standards, all from her studio in Los Angeles.
She supplements her own technical know-how with a small cohort of treasured tailors, skilled seamstresses, and British-royalty-worthy fabric sources, to ensure the quality of her pieces rivals the best in the market, while providing her clients with an intentional and intimate 1-on-1 experience that won’t be found in a showroom setting.
She is now accepting clients for Spring 2025 and beyond. Please email hanvanstudio@gmail.com to set up an introductory consultation call, and check out the “Custom-Made” page for more info about the process.
